CUPERTINO, California—October 14, 2008—Apple® today unveiled an all new MacBook®
family that redefines notebook design, and at the same time dramatically lowers
the entry price for advanced notebook features including all-metal enclosures
and pro-performance notebook graphics by 600 € to make them far more affordable.
The new MacBook and 15-inch MacBook Pro both have a precision unibody enclosure
crafted from a single block of aluminum, resulting in thinner, more durable and
incredibly beautiful designs. In addition, every member of the new MacBook
family includes state of the art NVIDIA graphics, brilliant instant-on
LED-backlit displays and new large glass Multi-Touch™ trackpads that offer
almost 40 percent more tracking area and support more Multi-Touch gestures. The
entire new MacBook family meets stringent Energy Star 4.0, EPEAT Gold and RoHS
environmental standards, and leads the industry in the elimination of toxic
chemicals by containing no brominated flame retardants, using only PVC-free
internal cables and components, and using energy efficient LED-backlit displays
that are mercury-free and made with arsenic-free glass.

The new MacBook line features the powerful new NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, a
revolutionary new 3D integrated graphics processor that features 16 parallel
processing cores and delivers up to five times the 3D graphics performance as
previous MacBook and MacBook Air™ designs. Apple has worked together with NVIDIA
on this groundbreaking graphics processor and is the first to bring it to market
in the new MacBook family.

The new smooth glass Multi-Touch trackpad on the MacBook and 15-inch MacBook Pro
gives users almost 40 percent more tracking area than before, making it even
easier to use Multi-Touch gestures like pinch, rotate and swipe. New gestures
allow users to activate Exposé® or switch between applications at the touch of a
fingertip. The entire trackpad surface is also a button, allowing users to both
track and click virtually anywhere on the trackpad. Users can easily enable
multiple virtual buttons in software, such as right-clicking.

Every member of the new MacBook family features an LED-backlit display for
brilliant instant-on performance that uses up to 30 percent less energy than its
predecessor and eliminates the mercury found in industry standard fluorescent
tube backlights. The ultra-thin displays provide crisp images and vivid colors
which are ideal for viewing photos and movies, and the edge-to-edge cover glass
creates a smooth, seamless surface. Every display in the new MacBook line uses
completely arsenic-free glass.

The new MacBook delivers the top three features that MacBook customers have told

€ 1 799 price of the MacBook Pro. At only 2.41 cm thin and weighing just 2.04

Kenelle tehdään valitus Kuluttajaneuvonnan toimimattomuudesta?

Yksittäisissä kuluttajan ja elinkeinonharjoittajan välisissä riitatapauksissa auttavat kunnalliset kuluttajaneuvojat. Kuulostaa mukavalta. Valitettavasti todellisuus on haavekuvia rosoisempi. En nimittäin ole saanut Helsingin kuluttajaneuvontaa kiinni puhelimitse ollenkaan. Kyllähän siellä puhelinpalvelu on käytössä, mutta vain yksi linja, joka on yllättäen tämän kokoisessa kaupungissa aina varattu.

Koska sähköpostipalvelua ei ole Helsingin kuluttajaneuvonnassa tarjolla, niin turvauduin 1980-lukulaiseen ratkaisuun Helsingin kuluttajaneuvonnan nettisivuilla olevien ohjeiden mukaisesti ja laitoin faksilla kaikki mahdolliset tiedot omasta ongelmastani. Faksipaperien lähettämisestä on vierähtänyt pian kuukausi. Minne teen valituksen kuluttajaneuvonnan toiminnasta?

Kuluttajaneuvonta on kaupunki/kuntakohtainen ja toimintamallit sen mukaiset. Olen kuullut muiden kuntien asukkailta, että palvelu pelaa puhelimitse aivan hyvin. Myös sähköpostitse ovat toiset asioineet omien kuntiensa kuluttajaneuvonnan kanssa. Helsingissä kuluttajaneuvonnasta vastaa kaupungin ympäristökeskus, en tiedä, onko tämä vakiintunut käytäntö. Ei ainakaan minun korvissani kuulosta vakuuttavalta, mutta kenties siellä sitä tietotaitoa riittää. Tähän asti ei kuitenkaan ole vakuuttanut.

Puhelut jakautuvat tulojärjestyksessä päivystäville kuluttajaneuvojille. Järjestelmä ottaa yhden soittajan jonoon, toisille puhelin antaa "varattu" -signaalin. Toisinaan asiakkaan asian selvittäminen vie aikaa ja puhelu saattaa kestää jopa yli 30 min. Puhelimitse asioinnin etuna on välitön vuorovaikutus asiakkaan ja kuluttajaneuvojan kesken.

Kuluttajaneuvontaan ei ole sähköpostiosoitetta, koska meillä ei ole henkilöstöä
vastaamaan sähköpostiyhteydenottoihin.

Voihan sinne mennä myös paikan päälle vierailemaan, mikäli siltä tuntuu. Toki aukioloajat ovat sellaiset, että normikansalainen on tuolloin töissä. Ja jotta tämä ei olisi liian helppoa, niin tietenkin sinne pitää varata aika etukäteen, jotta pääsee vierailemaan. Joko arvasit, miten se aika varataan? No tietenkin puhelimitse.

Aavistuksen hatuttaa. Luulin, että koko ruljanssin aiheuttanut hifilaitemyyjä on ainoa ongelmatekijä tässä kolmiodraamassa, mutta näköjään kuluttajaa tukeva osapuoli osaa sekin aiheuttaa harmaita hiuksia. Onneksi on kesä ja ainakin teoriassa voisin keksiä muutakin tekemistä kuin hifistä nauttimisen.

Laajakaistakauppiaskaan ei tarjoa asiakaspalvelua netissä

Olen kiukustunut ja suorastaan hämmästynyt, ettei Elisa tarjoa asiakaspalvelua kuin puhelimitse. Firman asiakkaille on kyllä tarjolla jos jonkinlaista saldolaskuria sun muuta selaimella käytettävää tarpeellista palvelua (sarkasmia joo), mutta noin muuten asiakaspalvelu tarkoittaa pelkkää puhelinnumeroa, jossa vastataan pitkän odotusajan jälkeen.

Itse olen ollut hetkellisesti Elisan asiakas. Puhelinnumeroni oli aiemmin entisen työpaikkani nimissä, josta se siirtyi itselleni reilun kuukauden ajaksi, jonka jälkeen sitä on hallinnoinut nykyinen työnantajani. Laskutuksen kannaltahan tässä ei pitäisi olla mitään ongelmia, mutta niin vaan Elisa muljautti minulle kaikki laskut viime elokuulta lähtien. Ei siinä mitään, asioista päästiin sopuun molempien työnantajien kanssa ongelmitta. Valitettavasti vaan tästä nyt pitäisi tiedottaa Elisalle. Sähköpostitse se olisi hyvinkin helppoa: Pyytäisin uudet laskut jaoteltuina tiettyjen päivämäärien mukaan. Tästä selviäisin lyhyellä kirjallisella selvityksellä. Eipä ole kuitenkaan mahdollista. Minun tulee soittaa johonkin heidän palvelunumeroistaan. En oikein tiedä, olenko yritys- vai yksityisasiakas, kun numero on ollut sekä yrityksen että yksityisen hallussa.

Ärsyttää suuresti tuollainen linja. Ilmeisesti Elisa ei tiedä, että asiakaspalvelun toteuttaminen netissä ei ole mitenkään älyttömän vaikeaa. Pitäisiköhän yrittää tarjota niille konsultointia tämän asian tiimoilta - kunnon korvauksella tietenkin.

Turkulainen Suvi, 5, koki kauhun hetkiä perjantaina, kun mäenlasku päätyi jalat edellä puuhun.

Iltapäivälehti kirkuu näyttävästi hätkähdyttävällä uutisella. Lapsi on laskenut päiväkodin pihalla pulkalla ja törmännyt puuhun. Kyseessä on vähintäänkin vuosisadan kammottavin tapaturma. Kyllähän jokaisen pitäisi tietää, ettei lapselle saa antaa pulkkaa, tai ainakaan hänen ei pitäisi antaa leikkiä sillä pihalla. Mäen laskeminen pulkalla nimittäin tunnetusti pienentää kitkaa ja näin ollen aiheuttaa entistä hurjemman vauhdin alamäkeä pitkin edettäessä. Lisäksi pulkan hallintalaitteisto on alkeellinen, eikä sen ohjastamiseen vaadita minkäänlaista koulutusta.

"Olen ihan raivona... ...Kaikki tämä vain sen takia, että aikuinen ei ymmärrä kieltää lasta laskemasta mäkeä", äiti kauhistelee.

Niinpä. Lapsia pitäisi ehdottomasti kieltää tekemästä kaikkea, missä voi tapahtua tapaturma. Leikkiminen on kaikista synneistä suurin, sillä useimmiten lapset satuttavat itsensä leikkiessään. Sen sijaan nukkumista tulisi kannustaa, sillä harva lapsi satuttaa itsensä vuoteessa. Ensisijaisesti lapsia pitäisi kuitenkin kieltää olemasta kotona tai menemästä päiväkotiin, sillä suurin osa tapaturmista tapahtuu juuri näissä paikoissa. Jos lapset viettäisivät päivänsä esimerkiksi naapurissa, niin tapaturmatilastot lähtisivät jyrkkään alamäkeen.

Nyt lopetan sarkastisen huutelun ja tuon pointtini esille: leikki on lapsen työtä ja leikkiessä aina silloin tällöin sattuu ja tapahtuu. Minua kammostuttaa tässä uutisessa se, että lapselle tapahtunutta tapaturmaa pidetään täysin ennenkuulumattomana. Käsittääkseni pulkkamäki ja siinä törmäileminen on aivan normaalia lapsen toimintaa? Itse ainakin olen laskenut päivät pitkät joskus 1980-luvulla pulkkamäkeä metsäisessä rinteessä, joka oli täynnä puita. Aina silloin tällöin joku sai vammoja, muttei siitä lööppejä kirjoiteltu. Jääkiekkoa pelattiin kadulla ja pidettiin pieni tauko, mikäli auto ajoi ohi. Luunmurtumia tuli vuosien mittaan useammallekin kaveripiirimme jäsenistä, mutta ei sitä silloin kummasteltu. Se oli aivan normaalia epäonnea, vaikkakaan ei toivottavaa.

Nykyään lapset roudataan autolla kouluun ja harrastuksiin. Väliajan he viettävät iltapäiväkerhossa. Koko ajan lapsia tulee valvoa ohjatusti, tai muuten lapsi kasvaa turvattomasti ja muodostaa potentiaalisen riskitapauksen. Onko maailma todellakin muuttunut näin radikaalisti? Ovatko nykylapset tosiaan niin saamattomia, etteivät he pääse minnekään yksin, eivätkä pärjää ollenkaan yksin, vai onko vika ylihuolehtivaisissa vanhemmissa? Itse poljin 11-vuotiaana 8 km fillarimatkan lätkätreeneihin varustekassi selässä ja maila toisessa kädessä. Ei se silloin harmittanut, kun kerran oikeasti halusin pelata lätkää. Eivätkö nykylapset enää haluakaan itse harrastaa ja olla aktiivisia?

Valehteleva ylipaino

Tiedotusluontoinen asia laihduttajille ja muille painoaan tiukasti tarkkaileville: ette välttämättä olekaan aivan niin tukevia, kuin vaakanne näyttää. Valitettavasti joudun heti perään toteamaan, että lohdutuksen sanani koskee vain niitä, jotka vertaavat painoaan menneisiin sukupolviin, ja mittaavat painonsa murto-osien tarkkuudella.

Painon mittayksikkö kilo on melkoisen vammainen luonnonvakio, sillä sitä ei ole määritelty alunperin luonnonvakioiden avulla. Vertailun vuoksi: metri on jo matka, jonka valo kulkee tyhjiössä tietyssä erittäin lyhyessä ajassa ja sekunti on määritelty cesium-atomin sisäisten siirtymien avulla.

Kilo sen sijaan on vain kilo: erään pariisiin sijoitetun metallimöhkäleen massa. Harmillisesti kilogramman prototyyppi muuttaa hiljalleen massaansa, vaikka sitä säilytetään mahdollisimman vakioidussa ympäristössä. Se ei kuitenkaan suojaa kilon möykkyä täydellisesti esimerkiksi ilman epäpuhtauksilta. Saksalainen Der Spiegel -lehti veikkasi muutamia vuosia sitten, että kilon prototyypistä olisi sadan vuoden aikana kadonnut 50 mikrogrammaa. Niinpä sata vuotta sitten kilon painoinen kappale painaisikin nyt 1,000 000 050 kiloa. Tämä ei vetele. Suorastaan järkyttävää epätarkkuutta!

Teoreettis-tieteelliseen ongelmaan on kuitenkin tulossa ratkaisu. Vuonna 2011 meillä pitäisi olla käytössä uusi kilo. Tänä vuonna järjestetään yleinen mitta- ja painokonferenssi, jossa sovitaan kilon määrittelemisestä uudelleen. Suomessa Mittatekniikan keskus on kehittänyt ehdotelmaa kilogramman määrittelemiseksi. Valittu tekniikka perustuu levitaatioon, jossa käytetään magneettikelaa ja suprajohtavaa kappaletta. Kelaan johdetaan virtaa, jolloin syntyy magneettikenttä. Suprajohtava kappale ei päästä magneettikenttää sisäänsä vaan hylkii sitä. Mikäli kappale on vaakatasossa, nousee se tällöin ilmaan eli levitoi. Kelaan syötettävän energian määrä määritellään kilogrammaksi. Yksinkertaista, eikö totta? Olin jo melkein tehnyt saman kotioloissa, mutta Mittatekniikan keskus ehti ensin. Pahus.
